Call for Paper
The 2012 IEEE International Workshop on Genomic Signal Processing and Statistics (GENSIPS’12) will be held in Washington, DC during December 2-4, 2012. GENSIPS’12 will provide a forum for signal processing researchers, bioinformaticians, computational biologists, biomedical engineers, and biostatisticians to exchange ideas and discuss the challenges confronting computational bioinformatics and systems biology communities due to the high modality of disparate high-throughput data, high variability of data acquisition, high dimensionality of biomedical data, and high complexity of genomics and proteomics. The theme of GENSIPS’12 is Data Mining and Modeling Methods in Next-Generation Sequencing and Cancer Systems Biology and GENSIPS will feature prominent plenary speakers including John Quackenbush of Harvard University, Victor Velculescu of Johns Hopkins University, Jinghui Zhang of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, as well as special sessions in cancer research. GENSIPS’12 will also provide best paper awards to students with outstanding technical contributions.
The conference will be organized at Doubletree by Hilton Washington DC - Crystal City, 300 Army Navy Drive, Arlington, VA 22202.The Doubletree Hotel Washington DC - Crystal City, just minutes away from Ronald Reagan National Airport, is located across the Potomac from Washington D.C. in Arlington, Virginia. Unlike other Crystal City, Virginia hotels, the hotel’s convenient location, surrounded by major government centers and top area attractions, makes it easy to explore and discover why the D.C. area is such a popular destination. The metro stop is 3 blocks away, Pentagon city shopping within a mile and more than 75 restaurants within a 5 block radius. The hotel features three restaurants and a revolving rooftop bar with unobstructed views of US landmarks.
Possible topical areas of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
-
Computational methods for cancer biomarker discovery
-
Computational cancer drug screening and effectiveness prediction
-
The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data processing and integration
-
NGS/SNP/genotype/epigenetic signal processing and data analysis
-
Deep sequencing data mining
-
LC/MS data processing and proteomics
-
Functional meta-genomics and biomolecular dynamics modeling in microbial communities
-
Computational study of functions of microRNA and non-coding RNAs
-
Modeling of cancer evolution and intra-tumoral heterogeneity
-
Dynamics and control modeling of genetic regulatory networks and signaling networks
-
Differential analysis and modeling of molecular pathways
-
Computational modeling of system-level prognosis and diagnosis
Paper Submission: Prospective authors are invited to submit unpublished work to GENSISP’12. All papers will be included in IEEE Xplore and indexed by EI. Authors of paper with exceptional quality could be invited to submit the extended version to special issue in journals. The full papers should adhere to the standard 8.5" X 11" IEEE format and must not exceed 4 pages.
